FREESCO is a project I have fond memories of. I started learning about it and using it at the same time I was learning how to follow directions and install GNU/Linux distros from CD, and found it surprisingly easy to use. The ability to boot an entire OS from a floppy disk and run a firewall for a lab was astounding; Windows 2000 Server was the closest Windows-based OS that I could draw a comparison against and the differences were astounding.
If I were to have one project that I’ve ever worked on that really brought me joy, it would be this one. The feeling as a newbie of overcoming the, “It can’t be done”, mentality was amazing. When I finally got FREESCO 0.2.7 to boot from a CD, I was ecstatic. Here is to everyone that pushes forward when they're told that something can't be done.
